To the rhythm of resolutely modern traditional dances, director Greta-Marie Becker immerses us in the inner life of Senegalese choreographer Germaine Acogny. A beautiful tribute to a historic figure in dance.

Palms up, Germaine Acogny dances alone on the beach in the blue Senegalese night. Round, slow, almost incantatory gestures that director Greta-Marie Becker films with modesty. With one hand, this historic figure of African choreography, over 80 years old, leans down and picks up a few grains of sand, blowing them out to sea. "I listen more often to things than to people," she says. A testament to a spirituality rooted in animist traditions instilled by her grandmother Aloopho, a Yoruba priestess (a West African people).
